Abstract
In Apacell project we wish to focus on a systematic approach concerning composition and degree of substitution on th M or X site of the general formula M10(XO4)6O2. A wider range of compositions of doped apatites will be investigates in relation to final properties. Detaild studies will help us to propose a mechanism of mass transfer via apatite structure.
thus apatites of the general formua La10-x-yAx(X1-zBzO4)6O2 where A: alkaline earths (Mg, Ca, Ba, Sr), X: Si or Ge, B: Al, Fe, Mn will be studied.
Iron is expected to lower refractoriness of the materials allowing sintering towards dense structures at lower temperatures. The same effect may take place by A site substitution. the latter can also stabilize volatile elements such as Ge that is expected to improve conductivity. X site substitution is of particular interest as trivalent elements e.g. Al may substitute cations at A site.
during the project factors affecting the physicochemical and electrochemical properties of the aforementioned ATLS will be investigated. These factors are: a) chemical composition, b) synthesis method, c) shaping method/procedure.
